Membership to KSPCA

The Kenya society for protection and care of animals (KSPCA) is the oldest animal
welfare charity in Kenya, having been in existence for over 100 years.
We rely completely on the goodwill of the public for funding.
Our work includes:
· Rabies vaccination programmes – we are the only organisation who
will deal with rabid dogs. Vets and members of the public call us when
there is an outbreak of rabies. We then set up a rabies vaccination
programme in the area the animal was found and vaccinate all dogs
and cats in that area free of charge when funds permit.
· Animal Shelter – we have shelters for stray/abandoned dogs and cats and re-home suitable animals.
· Control of the population of stray animals – we collect animals, vaccinate and spay the females
before, when possible, returning them to their food sources. We offer cat trapping services to the hotels,
charging a fee to assist with expenses. We advise the hotels on how to build cat cafes
so that cats we trap can be neutered an returned to them to be fed in such a way as not
to disturb their guests.
· Supervising the humane slaughter of animals
· Supervising the loading of animals on to ships.
· Visiting schools and encouraging schools to visit KSPCA in order to educate
children about animal welfare and the humane treatment of all living creatures.
· Following up on reports of injured, abandoned, abused or killed animals.
· Treating animals which come under our care.
Due to the economic situation our workload is increasing while our income is decreasing.
Without any support we might find ourselves facing closure in the next few months.
One of the many ways to support our work is by becoming member.
In return for this we will keep you updated about our activities via a quarterly newsletter
and “gold” members names will be displayed in our premises.
Please find below the outline of the different types of membership available.
We are also very grateful for donations of any size that help us to continue our valuable work.
Please bear in mind that Kenya would be much worse off without the critical work that we do
in the areas of rabies control and prevention and the monitoring of commercial exploitation of animals.
